AI marketing moves faster than AI capability. A demo, a benchmark, a viral screenshot, a “leaked” internal memo – each can travel for days before anyone checks whether the underlying claim holds.
Bring a recent AI claim and examine it: What was asserted? What was demonstrated? What was left out? Who benefits from the claim being believed before it is tested?
Link to the original source, not to a summary of a summary. Distinguish what the model did once from what it does reliably. Hype is a pattern, not a product.
